Are You A Radiator Or A Drain?
We've heard a lot about the dangers of second-hand smoke. The danger is real and well documented. However, second-hand words can be just as destructive.
I'm referring to the negative words we hear all around us, at work, at home, on TV, etc.
The words which are spoken, not necessarily to you, which non the less lodge themselves in our subconscious mind, just like second hand smoke lodges itself in your lungs. The damage is not obvious at first, but with repeated exposure over time, these toxic words can do serious damage.
Negative words may not even be spoken to you, but if you are exposed to them regularly, they will effect you.
Do you mix with people who don't really believe in their possibilities? They talk about how bad their job is or how pointless life is, etc. They moan and groan about everything.
In life, there are what I call 'Radiators and Drains'. Some people give off positive energy and encouragement and you feel lifted by their presence. Whilst others can drain and sap your energy, they are like vampires who deplete your enthusiasm for life.
Safe guard your energy, stay away from drains and mix more with the radiators of life.
The best way to help someone out of a hole of despair is to make sure both your feet are firmly planted on the ground at the top of the hole and then you can pull him or her out safely. If you get down in the pit with them, who is going to help you?
It's your job to help yourself, so take that job seriously. Keep your "subconscious lungs" clean, healthy, and fully functioning.
How do we do this? By avoiding exposure to people who dwell on the negative. By filling our minds with positive phrases. By seeking associations with those who already believe in themselves and their possibilities.
Are you ready to clear those "lungs" right NOW, to be a radiator and give off warmth and be an inspiration to others, to move forward towards your goals quickly and easily without the smokey haze of negative thoughts?
